Description of Channel Catfish
The Channel Catfish is a Large, elongated fish with 4 pairs of dark barbels around the mouth. The Back of this fish is pale blue, pale olive, or grey. The sides are lighter, often with Small black spots, and the belly is grey to yellow or even silver. Their Body lacks scales And their taill is forked, unlike a few other catfish in the area.
Channel catfish are found in a wide variety of warmwater habitats in both
lakes and streams, and are not as closely associated with the bottom as
bullheads and madtoms. Channel catfish inhabit cooler and swifter water than
most of Ontario's other catfish. They often occur downstream from power dams
where they find the fast water they favour. In The case of the fish below, They also love and thrive in large ponds.

This Channel Catfish was caught in a large family pond near my house in Piney Creek, NC. The bait of choice was corn.
